How Do You Remove the Stopper from the Ball?
In fact, the stopper is simply inserted into the ball and can be pulled out at any time. However, it can sometimes be a bit challenging to remove since it is inserted deeply and fits tightly. Manufacturers usually include a small plastic lever to help with this. With this lever, you can try to wedge between the ball and the stopper to pull it out. Even without this tool, you can manage: using the handle of a teaspoon, you can press down the rubber on the side of the stopper slightly and pry it out. This usually works perfectly, but be careful not to apply too much pressure so that you don’t hurt yourself if you slip.
If the stopper gets lost, you will face a problem the next time you try to inflate the ball. A suitable replacement is rarely found at home. But don’t worry – these stoppers can be ordered, and their size is usually universal. By the way, an exercise ball doesn’t have a proper valve; it doesn’t need one because the opening is simply sealed with the stopper. This method wouldn’t work for, say, footballs. The pressure inside a football is so high that it would just push the stopper out, and that spot on the ball would be extremely uncomfortable on the foot.
Old beach balls used to have a valve similar to that of exercise balls. However, due to safety regulations, it was necessary to ensure that in the event of a valve opening, the air would escape very slowly – since many children, despite the ban, used such items as flotation devices. The so-called one-way valve ensures that the air either does not escape at all or only very slowly once the valve is opened. If you want to let the air out, you need to squeeze the valve.
